Cosmic String

Cosmic string. In Chapter One, Dorf Tzeus explains to Jeeves how they manage to depart Planet Authair, spend five Earth years away while only having been gone one day of Authair time. They have displaced time using Cosmic Strings.

Cosmic strings are hypothetical 1-dimensional (spatially) topological defects which may have been formed during a symmetry-breaking phase transition in the early universe when topology of the vacuum manifold associated to this symmetry-breaking was not connected. It is expected that at least one string per Hubble volume formed. The existence of cosmic strings was first contemplated by the theoretical physicist, Tom Kibble in the 1970's.
